how it works

Fostering in Powys is a lot more connected than you might think, with a dedicated network providing expertise, professional support and guidance whenever you need it.

We have two office locations, in Newtown and Brecon, which means that our team are never very far away to offer support and are available by phone, text and email.

We work closely with other professionals and agencies involved in the lives of our children and young people in Powys, and many colleagues work in the same office so are readily accessible.

We have a full-time member of the team who can provide advice and information regarding financial matters related to fostering, and two team members who can provide practical support to your own children and the young people you care for.

better together

We work closely with other professionals and agencies who are also involved in the lives of our children and young people in Powys, and many colleagues work in the same office so are easily accessible.

As we’re a part of a collaborative group of not-for-profit local authority providers, Foster Wales Powys puts people at the heart of everything. We ensure the same framework and training is offered to everyone across Wales.

what makes us different

We’re not your standard fostering agency. Foster Wales is the nationwide collective of 22 Local Authority fostering teams across the country.

This gives us a national perspective, but our focus is local. When it comes to doing the best for every child in our care, we look at maintaining friendships, schools, clubs and communities. We try to prioritise keeping children in familiar, local places they know and love, when it’s right for them.

It’s about maintaining their identity and sense of ‘self’. It’s about understanding, caring and doing what’s best for each individual child. And as a foster carer with Foster Wales, you’re what makes that possible.
